What summer camp looks like at Bloomingdale, and how to plan for it.
Summer Camp at Bloomingdale Day Care gives children a summer of educational fun. Days are built around interest areas and play, so children move between activities that keep them busy and curious. Teachers use the Creative Curriculum to inspire children to be confident and creative critical thinkers.
Children make things, play together, and try new activities. The focus stays on creativity and play-based learning, the same approach used in our classrooms all year. Campers build confidence as they take part in the day and make it their own.
Our Summer Camp programs create lasting memories. Families can ask the center about camp ages, hours, and days.
The fireworks end. Summer independence can start. An NYT article says independent play is a skill kids use for life, and a way to claim time for yourself. Start small: play together a few minutes first. Rotate toys or mix them. Go outside with chalk or colored water. Build in movement. On rainy days, try National Geographic and NASA activities. Ask what your child worked on. It keeps the connection.

A camp day usually has a rhythm: arrival, a block of free play or projects, outdoor time, lunch, rest or quiet time for younger children, then more play before pickup. Children move between interest areas and choose what to work on.
The benefit shows up at home. A child who practiced choosing an activity and finishing it gets better at starting on their own. Parents get a few minutes back. The skill stays past August. Teachers will tell you where your child is with it, and you can ask at pickup.
