Teachers spent the summer training in The Creative Curriculum, a play-based approach built on interest areas. It is designed for each age group and tailored to each child's needs. Bloomingdale Day Care serves children from 6 weeks to 13 years old and has been part of the community since 1982. In a licensed center, Labor Day is a closed day, a last pause before the school year begins. The weeks around it are spent settling new children into rooms, restocking cubbies, and re-learning routines. Teachers set out materials in interest areas so children can choose work that holds their attention. Parents get notes and photos about how the day went, and a teacher to ask when something changes at home.
