How friendship gets built in child care, and how our classrooms set up for it.
International Day of Friendship, celebrated since 2011, bridges cultures. Friendship means something different to each child. Kindness, trust and listening take practice. Free play builds these skills: children take turns, share, negotiate and solve problems together. At Bloomingdale, Seeds and Sprouts rooms have pods with sound toys, books and photographs. Blossoms children use Learning Centers, checking in and out.
New families who enroll between September 21 and October 28, 2026 can get their third month free. Care at Bloomingdale Day Care runs from 6 weeks to 13 years old, with programs for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, school-age children, and a summer camp. Summer Camp at Bloomingdale Daycare kicked off in July with children full of energy to power their days. Camp runs mid-June through August and gives school-age children more time to know and learn from their peers. For details on camp weeks, ages, and what to pack, ask the center directly.
At home, you may notice your child waiting for a turn or asking a friend what they want to play. These small moments come from practice. Kindness, listening and trust grow over time, from toddler years through the teens. Free play gives children room to try, make mistakes and try again with peers guiding each other.
