Three steps from first call to first day.
Call 973-838-2459 or email bloomingdaledaycare@gmail.com to start the conversation. Tell us your child's age and the days you need. We will let you know what is available for your child's age group and arrange a time to visit. After that, you can come see the rooms and meet the teachers.
On your tour, you will see the classroom your child would join and meet the teachers who run it. You can watch how the room is set up, where children play, and how the day flows. Ask anything you like about routines, meals, and rest. When you get home, you will know whether this feels like the right place for your child.
Once you decide, you complete enrollment and plan a first week that suits your child's routine. We will talk with you about drop-off, pick-up, and what your child needs during the day. You can bring a comfort item from home and a change of clothes. Then your child starts, and we take it from there.
Most families have a few papers ready before the first day. You will need enrollment forms, a health form and immunization record, and emergency contacts. It also helps to list the people who are allowed to pick up your child. If you are not sure what is needed, call or email and we will walk you through it.
Pack a full change of clothes for your child, including socks and underwear. Add outdoor gear for the season, like a hat, mittens, or rain boots. If your child naps here, bring a small blanket and sheet, and a comfort object if that helps. Please label everything with your child's name.
Before the first day, sort out the drop-off routine and who will pick up. Tell us how you want to hear about your child's day, whether at pickup or by phone. If someone other than you will pick up, let us know in advance. A short note about your child's habits and favorite things helps us too.
The first days often go best with shorter hours. You might bring your child for a morning, then add time as they get comfortable. A familiar object from home, like a small toy or blanket, can help. A teacher will greet your child by name at the door and stay nearby as they settle.
At pickup, a teacher will tell you how your child ate, slept, and played. You can ask about anything you noticed that morning. Some children settle in a few days, others take a couple of weeks. We will keep you posted on how it is going and what seems to help.
